Submission Guidelines

We are currently on hiatus. Please make sure you read through the following guidelines before submitting. We aim for a two week response time; please email us if you haven't received a response after three weeks

THEME

Issue One's first theme is "Labyrinths." We're looking for pieces that make us stare out the window and forget where we started from. Don't be afraid to sprinkle in some of the melancholy, the strange, and the weirdly hopeful. You can interpret the theme however you wish (your pieces don't need to include literal labyrinths!). We will be accepting a few unthemed submissions as well.

WHO CAN SUBMIT

Anyone, from anywhere in the world.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

No matter what genre you're submitting to:

  • No identifying information should be anywhere on your document (such as name, location, etc)

  • Title file names as "Genre___Title of piece". Example: "Poetry__The Road Not Taken"

  • All attached files must be PDFs. Please submit one file per genre.

  • Please include a title at the top of the first page.

  • Submit only once per genre. For example, if you've already submitted five poems, you cannot submit any more poetry, but you can submit prose.

  • NSFW, bigotry, racism, graphic depictions of violence, and content glorifying abuse, drug use, and self harm will not be tolerated or responded to.

  • If your piece contains potentially sensitive content, you must include a trigger warning on our submission form.

Simultaneous submissions are welcome, and so are previously published pieces. For previously published work, please let us know where it first appeared (we request Second North American Serial Rights). If we are publishing your work for the first time, we request First North American Serial Rights, and that you mention The Vivre Review as the first place your piece has appeared in.

Unfortunately, we are not accepting art submissions at this time.

POETRY

Attach up to 5 poems of any length in a single PDF. Each poem must not exceed 300 lines. We welcome unconventional formatting and experimentation.

PROSE

Includes creative nonfiction, flash fiction, and short plays. Attach up to 3 pieces total in a single PDF, no more than 2,500 words each. Submissions must be double spaced, in 12-point font, and in a conventional serif font (example: Times New Roman or EB Garamond).

At this time, submissions are closed.
